The 1-Minute Door Alignment Check

What to Look For:

  1. Hinge Side
Is the space between the door and frame wider at the top?
     → Check the top hinge.

  2. Top Edge
Is the space along the top smaller at the hinge side than at the handle side?
     → Check the top hinge.

  3. Handle Side
Is the space on the handle side smaller at the top and wider at the bottom?
     → Check the top hinge.

  4. Bottom of Door
Does the door feel like it’s dragging on the floor or threshold?
     → Check the top hinge.

What to Do:

If your door looks or feels off — don’t overthink it.

Start with the top hinge. Tighten the screws — if one spins, it’s probably stripped. Try a longer screw to reach solid framing.

This won’t fix every door, but it’s where we start — and it solves more problems than you’d think.
