Door Tune-Up

Could your door use a tune-up?

A Door Tune-Up is our base service for doors with minor issues like rubbing, loose handles, drafts, or locks that don’t feel secure.

Typical Pricing: Service starts at $495, which includes up to 2 hours on site. Optional add-ons can extend the visit up to 4 hours if needed.

What is a Door Tune-Up?

A Door Tune-Up improves how an existing door operates by adjusting what’s already there. We look at the door as a system alignment, hinges, latch, strike, and hardware and make careful, in-place adjustments to help the door close, latch, and lock more reliably.

This service is intentionally limited so it stays efficient, predictable, and low-stress.

What’s Included

Evaluation of door alignment, hinges, latch, strike, and hardware

  • In-place adjustments to improve swing, fit, and operation

  • Tightening or replacing loose screws

  • Minor tuning to reduce rubbing and improve latching

  • Clear explanation of findings and limitations

If it can be adjusted without removing the door, it’s typically part of a Tune-Up.

Optional Add-Ons & Upgrades

Add-ons are discussed during the showroom visit or assessment and priced separately.

Hardware

  • Economy deadbolt or handle

  • Solid brass hardware

Hinges

  • Economy hinges

  • Solid brass hinges

What’s Not Included

A Tune-Up is not a rebuild or restoration.

It does not include:

  • Removing the door

  • Structural or carpentry repairs

  • Frame or threshold reconstruction

  • Cosmetic restoration or paint work

If the door requires more involved repairs beyond adjustment, we’ll pause and discuss next-step options such as a Door Overhaul.

Weatherstripping

  • Stick-on weatherstripping (quick, economy fix)
(Not warrantied to stay adhered long-term)

  • Surface-mounted door sweep

  • Permanent kerfed jamb weatherstripping (silicone bulb)

  • Surface-mounted jamb weatherstripping

When a Door Tune-Up Is the Right Choice?

This service is a great fit if:

  • Your door rubs or sticks

  • Handles feel loose

  • The door doesn’t always latch or lock securely

  • You want to improve function before upgrading hardware

It may not be the right service if the door or frame is damaged or requires repair work beyond adjustment. If that’s the case, we’ll explain why and recommend a better-suited option.

Timing

Most Door Tune-Ups are completed in 2 hours on site, depending on door type and add-ons.

Our Approach

A Door Tune-Up is about clarity and trust. We make the improvements that are possible, explain the limits of the door as it exists today, and give you clear options, so you can decide what comes next without pressure.
